Purpose:

This course is designed to train veterinary healthcare workers who are employed in a facility that owns and operates X-ray radiation emitting equipment.
This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Labour in training primary and auxiliary healthcare workers.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course the student will be able to:

Describe ionizing radiation and its effects on healthy tissue
Describe the type of radiation used with each modality
Identify various methods of radiation protection available within each department
Knowledgeably review the radiation protection protocols within his/her imaging suite
