Beginning Bone Mineral Densitometry
Only available by registration through The Michener Institute. Topics include anatomy of the human skeleton and the factors in bone disease, vulnerablity of bone to disease, calcium loss and fracture, reasons for prescribing a bone density study, physics of Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) patient positioning and scanning, reviewing and assessing BMD scans
There are seven lessons each containing a self assessment test. Also included in the course is a clinical exercise containing sample bone scans completed on various BMD units and demonstrating examples of good positioning, poor positioning and pathology.
