Beginning Bone Mineral Densitometry

Only available by registration through The Michener Institute. Students of The Michener Institute's Beginning Bone Mineral Densitometry course will be given access to download the course materials and take the online test only upon registration and payment directly through the Michener registrar. Please see here for more information and registration directions.

Topics include anatomy of the human skeleton and the factors in bone disease, vulnerablity of bone to disease, calcium loss and fracture, reasons for prescribing a bone density study, physics of Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) patient positioning and scanning, reviewing and assessing BMD scans

There are seven lessons each containing a self assessment test. Also included in the course is a clinical exercise containing sample bone scans completed on various BMD units and demonstrating examples of good positioning, poor positioning and pathology.
